KU Edwards Campus Launches Two New Degree Programs

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The University of Kansas Edwards Campus recently added two new degree programs, making a total of 26 degree programs available to working adults in greater Kansas City. Developmental psychology is a new undergraduate degree completion program and information technology has been added to the graduate program offerings.

Developmental psychology, offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has a strong emphasis on human development from birth through adolescence. University research showed interest in a developmental psychology program, especially among students who work or plan to work in health services or educational settings. A survey conducted to Johnson County Community College (JCCC) students confirmed interest in the degree program. The Edwards Campus partners on the undergraduate degree completion offerings with JCCC.

The Master’s in Information Technology, offered through the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, will provide IT professionals with a deeper knowledge and more complex understanding of the field to help them advance their careers. The program includes emphasis areas in information security, internet engineering and software engineering and management.

Vice Chancellor, Bob Clark, is proud to introduce the two programs to the Edwards Campus, “and as a result of the applied nature of the programs, [they will] contribute significantly to the workforce development needs of Johnson County and the region” (Robert Clark, Vice Chancellor, KU Edwards Campus). Clark goes on to say that students of the Edwards Campus will greatly benefit from the uniqueness of the programs offered and is excited to see the results from both programs.
