Business Administration (B.B.A.)

A degree in business administration exposes professionals to a broad range of business topics such as business law, economics, finance, management, marketing and international business. Program curriculum will provide a strong professional education within a broad liberal arts context. Program outcome include strong verbal and written communication skills, an aptitude for technology, data analysis proficiency, a global perspective on business and the ability to maintain good professional relationships.

Individuals wanting to gain business theory, practical knowledge and professional skills in preparation for careers as business leaders are ideal candidate for this degree. Those interested should have earned an associate's degree or equivalent credit hours and are looking to complete requirements for a bachelor's degree.

Prerequisites

Enrollment in the BBA program requires admission to the KU School of Business (granted on a competitive basis) in addition to University admission. Minimum prerequisites: 60 credit hours, which must include financial accounting (ACT 200), managerial accounting (ACCT 201), microeconomics (ECON 142), macroeconomics (ECON 144), information systems (IST 301), statistics (various), general psychology (PSYC 104) and a course from the Culture & Society (SC) category. Candidates need a minimum 2.5 overall & professional (within business & economics coursework) GPA.

Curriculum

The program consists of 39 credit hours (13 courses) of junior/senior-level BBA courses: Managerial Economics (BBA 301), Legal Aspects of Business (BBA 302), Organizational Behavior (BBA 303), Marketing (BBA 304), Management Science & Operations Management (BBA 305), Finance (BBA 306), Intro to International Business (BBA 307), Business Policy & Strategy (BBA 308) and five courses of advanced (400+) BBA electives.

In addition to these courses, students must complete the School of Business graduation requirements, which include minimums of at least 124 total credit hours, 45 credit hours at the junior/senior (300+) level, at least 30 credit hours after admission to the School of Business (courses in residence); and completion of the School of Business general education requirements (37 credit hours).
