My name is Amanda Ramirez. I majored in business at KU in Overland Park, with a minor in psychology. I graduated in May 2015.
I had two children when I was fairly young. I attended a community college in California before moving back to Missouri, but having a family made finishing my bachelor’s degree a challenge. After taking classes, I realized I wasn’t the only student who was concerned about how to fit work, school, and family into my schedule.
But I never gave up. KU has a reputable program, and it made sense for me because of its flexible schedule. Plus, KU in Overland Park has an excellent advising center. My advisor made it easy to see exactly how I could complete the program.
KU in Overland Park is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to complete a degree while experiencing the benefits of a real classroom environment. I had an amazing chance to get a high-quality education close to home. Anybody can finish their degree if they set their mind to it —whether or not they have kids, or if they work full time.
Right now I’m a project manager for a benefits company. My job is challenging, which is something I enjoy in my day-to-day routine. And I definitely see myself going back to get a master’s degree. If I do, it’ll be at KU.
