Classroom Technology Training

The Instructional Development staff provide training for any technology you may use in the classroom. To see a list of available equipment, go to Classroom Technology. Contact Diana Marrs at (913) 897-8428 or Marie Browder at (913) 897-8410 if you are interested in using special equipment in your classroom or would like training.

Blackboard Course Management Software

Blackboard (Bb) is a Web-based course management system that allows instructors to easily develop and deliver instructional materials via the Web. It includes threaded discussions, file sharing, e-mail, chat and research engines. We offer one-on-one training for instructors.

Online Web Courses

If you would like to put your course online or partially online, the KU Edwards Instructional Development staff will provide:

  • Consultation and regular meetings with online instructors to develop course
  • Guidelines for essential components and online pedagogy
  • Faculty training in using the course software (Blackboard)
  • Copyright assistance for materials/readings
  • All production work for online environment (content provided by faculty) - fees charged for non-Edwards courses
  • Technical support throughout development and during live class

Courses are developed in Blackboard.

Streaming Media

If you would like your face-to-face class to be recorded and digitized so it will be accessible from blackboard, contact Marie Browder at (913) 897-8410.

Since 1998 the Edwards Campus has been using audio/video streaming in online courses. Your recorded class is accessible from any broadband internet connection. We intend to expand our capabilities in this area.
