How to get connected

If you would like to bring your laptop to our campus, you will need to connect to our network using DHCP. To do this, you need to:

  1. Right click on "My Network Places" and choose "Properties"
  2. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and choose "Properties"
  3. Double click on TCP/IP
  4. Write down the IP address and other connection information if yours is set up with this.
  5. Click on "Obtain an IP address automatically"
  6. Click OK and exit

Next your laptop must have a NIC card - a place on your laptop that you connect a network cable (CAT5) to. You will need a network cable, though these can be borrowed with a $20 deposit that will be refunded when the cable is returned.

Where to connect
  • Every classroom has a network port. It is the top left port in every room. You will need a cable to go to your computer, or request one when you submit your AV request.
  • Every break out room, study room, and office
Wireless Wireless is available campus wide on SSID Jayhawk for all KU students and faculty. For instructions on how to connect, please visit /http://www.technology.ku.edu/internet/wireless/external link .
