Glow in the dark students doing an experimentInterested in pursuing a biology or biotech degree in college, and want to gain hands-on lab experience? Join our research apprentice program!

KU Edwards Campus research apprentices are high school juniors and seniors and community college students who assist our senior students with their capstone research projects during the spring semester. Research apprentices work side-by-side with KU students in the lab generating data, interpreting results and presenting experiment findings.

As an apprentice, you’ll learn:

  • laboratory procedures
  • how to work with equipment
  • how to write and read scientific reports
  • the ins and outs of planning and executing a successful experiment

To become a research apprentice, students must be 16 or over. No prior lab experience is required.
