Navigating the decision to return to college or embark on your academic journey as a working adult is no small feat. Balancing responsibilities, financial concerns, and academic ambitions can feel overwhelming. But at the KU Edwards Campus (KUEC), you're not alone.

Returning to college or attending college for the first time is not an easy decision for working adults. There is a lot to think about. You may be working a full-time job, raising a family, and looking to find balance. You may worry about whether you can succeed academically, or if you can afford tuition.

Wherever you are in your decision-making, the KU Edwards Campus (KUEC) has students who have been in your shoes and can relate.

Know that you are not alone.

Nearly all of KUEC students are working adults who are balancing college classes on top of other responsibilities.

Many KUEC classes meet once a week in the afternoon or evening to accommodate working professionals. Or you can choose an online program. Some online courses feature both synchronous and asynchronous learning, meaning that while some live instruction will be required, you can complete some components on your own time. Others are offered fully asynchronous, allowing you to decide when to “attend” class.

KU’s academic advisors can work with you to develop a plan that offers flexibility based on your individual circumstances.

You may qualify for financial aid.

There are many avenues for getting assistance with tuition costs at KU such as scholarships, grants, loans, and payment plans.

Schedule an appointment with KU’s financial advisors to discuss which financial options will allow you to fulfill your educational and professional goals without breaking the bank.

You’ll get the support you need.

KUEC’s academic advisors are your advocates, connectors to resources, and partners in your educational pursuit. Faculty are another great resource, with many students taking advantage of the office hours, accessibility, and experience they provide.

KUEC offers student services such as mental health resources, writing assistance, a career network and so much more.

Not sure what you want to study?

Finding an enjoyable and meaningful career will require some research on your part. KUEC has more than 70 degree and certificate options.

Review the numerous academic programs that are available and take note of characteristics like career paths, online and on-campus formats, curriculum, and admissions criteria.
