KU Edwards Campus Enrollment Up Again
Traditional and non-traditional students alike are seeing the value of an education in challenging economic times as enrollment continues to grow at the KU Edwards Campus.
Business School enrollment increased by 24 percent for the semester. That number becomes even more significant when the previous semester’s increase of more than 20 percent is taken into account. Other schools experiencing a surge in enrollment include Liberal Arts and Sciences, up eight percent; Architecture, Design and Planning, up seven percent; Journalism, up seven percent; Social Welfare, up four percent; and Education, up four percent. Overall campus enrollment increased by seven percent.
The recession has increased college enrollment across the nation. Adult students in particular recognize the benefits of a KU degree. It gives them a competitive advantage in a tight job market.
"Adult learners are retooling their careers," said Bob Clark, vice chancellor of KU Edwards Campus. "Students are realizing employers, more than ever, want to remain competitive and will be looking for the best possible candidates as hiring improves."
