KU Edwards Campus undergraduate enrollment jumps 21%

KUEC News Release

Overland Park, KS – Spring 2006 enrollment figures released from the Kansas Board of Regents show undergraduate enrollment at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus jumped 21 percent from last spring semester achieving its highest enrollment in undergraduate programs since the campus began offering undergraduate programs five years ago.

The increased enrollment at the campus can be attributed to rapid growth of undergraduate programs from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. The College experienced a 50 percent increase in enrollment compared to spring enrollment last year. Edwards Campus graduate programs from the College also saw an enrollment increase by 44 percent.

"The College continues to meet the unique needs of our undergraduate and graduate population by providing programs and courses that provide the opportunity to improve our students’ personal or professional lives, even both in many situations," said Bob Clark, vice chancellor of the Edwards Campus. "I anticipate undergraduate enrollment especially to continue to trend upward."

Undergraduate programs from the College on the Edwards Campus include literature, language and writing, molecular biosciences, public administration, systems analysis and design and the newly added developmental psychology. Graduate programs include communications studies, international studies and public administration.

"We are excited to see our undergraduate programs continue to respond to the higher education needs of our workforce," said Clark. "These programs, in strategic partnership with Johnson County Community College, are beginning to make available to Johnson County citizens a full scope of public higher education."
