Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the KU Edwards Campus serves the workforce, economic and community development needs of the region by bringing the high-quality academic programs, research and public service of the University of Kansas to the greater Kansas City community. In the campus’ short life, it has just begun to scratch the surface of opportunities to serve this growing region and its developing public higher education needs.
Meeting workforce needs.
Economic demands are driving the growth of biosciences, biotechnology and health care. The Edwards Campus is well positioned to train tomorrow’s workforce with its growing engineering, information technology and molecular biosciences programs.
Immediate contributions.
With 60 percent of our student body working full time, the information our students learn in the classroom in an evening can immediately be applied to their jobs the next day, strengthening the skill set and knowledgebase of the workforce.
Service to Kansas.
While the mission of the KU Edwards Campus is to serve the greater Kansas City region, the campus proudly serves a majority of Kansas residents with about 85 percent of them living in Johnson and Wyandotte counties.
Outstanding programs.
The Edwards Campus boasts its nationally ranked programs.
US News & World Report ranks both KU’s public administration and special education programs as the number one public programs in the nation.
International exposure.
Housed on the Edwards Campus, the Confucius Institute (CI) serves dozens of schools, businesses and communities in metropolitan Kansas City and across the state of Kansas with its programs in Chinese language and culture. KU’s CI is ranked among the top four in the nation.
