Engineering management is one of the top eight highest paying master’s degrees. It provides graduates with engineering expertise, business acumen and management skills. This combination is in high demand. The need for qualified engineering managers will increase by twice the national average in Kansas by 2020.
The master’s degree in engineering management (EMGT) is offered through the KU School of Engineering. The program focuses on a specialized form of management, intersecting technical abilities and management skills for engineers, scientists and computer scientists. Emphasis is placed on team-based approaches, written and oral communications skills, management of technology and continuous improvement.
The EMGT program is unique in the region. Many alumni hold leadership positions within the concentration of engineering firms in the Kansas City metro area. Because of the busy schedules and frequent travel that many working professionals juggle, this program has online and distance learning options.
This unique and in-demand graduate degree has propelled numerous EMGT graduates into management positions within their organizations. Here are what both alumni and current students have to say about the program.
