Biography

Daniel Hein, Ph.D., is an adjunct lecturer in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program, teaching systems architecture and integration since 2018. His research interests include authentication, secure systems engineering and secure software engineering.

Hein’s professional career includes roles at Garmin International, Inc. as a staff security architect and software engineer, where he worked with a variety of teams and technologies at all levels of the embedded product stack. Additional early industry experience includes his time at Southwest Research Institute, where he worked on software for NASA's Swift satellite.

Hein holds a bachelor’s in computer engineering from Iowa State University, a master’s in computer engineering from KU and a doctorate in computer science from KU.
