Biography

Doug Schroeder started his law enforcement career in 1996 and was appointed Police Chief in Hesston, Kansas in 2001. After 20 years as Police Chief, Doug was appointed the Director of the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training in August of 2021. Doug has a bachelor’s degree from Central Christian College and a graduate degree from Fort Hays State University. Doug is an adjunct instructor in the criminal justice departments of several Kansas colleges. Doug is a graduate of the Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (class #361) and is a past president of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police. Doug has received various local, state, and national awards during his career including the Presidential Medal of Valor from United States President Donald Trump in 2018.
