Biography

Dr. Gary Broils is a Professor of the Practice for Project Management at the University of Kansas. He has more than 30 years of experience in management consulting, information technology and military service in the United State Marine Corps (USMC). Drawing from his extensive experience working with organizations in the private sector and public sector, Dr. Broils plays a pivotal role in advising executive client teams during project delivery and on the development of strategic roadmaps. His project portfolio is rich and diverse, encompassing strategic assessments, roadmap development, strategic planning, business analysis, performance benchmarking, data-driven decision-making, action planning, and benefits realization planning. As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile leader, Dr. Broils’ project leadership responsibilities have consistently involved the execution of complex projects and programs with a broad scope, high impact, and phased implementation periods. He has been entrusted with overseeing all aspects of project implementations, including both business transformation and the delivery of technical solutions.

Dr. Broils is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Central Exchange (CX), a non-profit professional development organization that supports women and believes that all women should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. He serves the CX Board as a member of the Membership Committee, Programs Committee, and Strategy Committee.

At KU, Dr. Broils teaches courses in the Project Management graduate program. Before teaching at KU, Dr. Broils’ academic background includes adjunct faculty roles at Ashford University and Colorado Technical University. Dr. Broils completed his D.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees at University of Phoenix. He also has a B.B.A. degree in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.
