Personal Mission Statement
My goal as a faculty member at the University of Kansas is to be an advocate for my profession within and beyond the scientific community. Statistics is a notoriously unpopular topic for students and professionals alike, and a great part of the blame for that can be placed at the feet of statisticians. We aren't glamorous, we often hide behind the scenes, and we just haven't done a very good job explaining the value (and beauty) of what we do to the outside world. I enjoy speaking about the 'whats' and the 'whys' of our profession to others, including to the statistical novice, but in particular to anyone who would be interested in learning more about what we do.
