Biography

Dr. Rick Cameron is the Director of Engineering Management Programs and a Professor of the Practice. Rick has four decades of experience in engineering, research, manufacturing, construction, management, and teaching in positions with consulting firms, start-ups, government entities, and academia. He spent more than 25 years at the U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in a variety of roles such as principal investigator, program and project manager, systems engineering manager, and technical contributor – finishing his career at PNNL as a Senior Technical Advisor. During his tenure at PNNL, Rick worked across a wide swath of engineering and innovation domains such as environmental remediation, Homeland Security, and cyberphysical systems development. For more than 15 years, Rick served as Adjunct Faculty for Washington State University, teaching more than a dozen different undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering and engineering management.

Rick completed a science doctorate and did his graduate studies in environmental engineering and engineering management and undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering and business management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Professional in Engineering Management (CPEM) and recipient of the R&D 100 Award; PNNL Laboratory Director’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to STEM Education & Mentoring; and the George Westinghouse Signature Award for Excellence in Engineering plus was selected by the students as the Washington State University – Tri-Cities Faculty Advisor of the Year.
