KU Edwards Campus Offers Scholarships and Discounts to Federal Employees
(Overland Park, Kan.) –The Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board and the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park are teaming up to make undergraduate, graduate and professional development programs easily accessible and more affordable for many federal employees.
Through this partnership with the federal government – the first of its kind in the Kansas City metro area – employees can receive scholarships for several academic programs and discounts on professional development courses at KU Edwards Campus. Currently, there are two universities in the United States offering similar programs to federal employees.
“This unique collaboration makes a high-quality KU education accessible and affordable, especially for the more than 27,000 federal employees working in the metro area,” said Dr. David Cook, vice chancellor, KU Edwards Campus.
Scholarships range from 10-percent off in-state*, or 25-percent off out-of-state tuition for select academic courses at KU Edwards Campus, starting in the fall. This spring, KU Professional & Continuing Education and the KU Public Management Center started offering a 10-percent discount for selected non-credit training courses and ongoing education.
Primarily serving adult learners, the KU Edwards Campus offers flexible class schedules and professional development courses taught by research-based faculty and professors recognized as experts in their industries.

Eligible academic offerings at the KU Edwards Campus include undergraduate and graduate degrees in information technology and public administration, as well as master’s degrees in project management, applied statistics & analytics and environment assessment. Certificates in accounting, information security and software engineering are also available through this partnership.
In addition to academic programs, this partnership provides access to ongoing career education and professional development opportunities at the KU Edwards Campus.
KU Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) offers non-credit training courses, programs and symposia for working professionals and in-house training for organizations. Eligible employees can choose from management certificate programs in science, leadership, and 11 specialized engineering technology and maintenance fields. PCE’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training program, selected aerospace short courses and warehouse layout seminar are also part of the offering.
Offerings through the KU Public Management Center (PMC) are designed for individuals working in government and other public service careers. PMC programs focus on leadership development, managerial competencies, and other skills to support staff development and succession planning needs. Interactive classrooms and practical, researched-based content ensure participants leave with a deeper understanding of the importance of their work in the public sector and practical skills to enhance their performance.
“Whether they are aiming to earn an undergraduate or advanced degree, or further their education through non-credit courses, federal employees now have an extra incentive to pursue those goals at the KU Edwards Campus,” said Cook.
*Missouri residents of Bates, Buchanan, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Henry, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte or Ray counties for the past 12 consecutive months are eligible to apply for in-state tuition.
