My name is Chitra Varanasi and I am a graduate of the engineering management master’s program at the KU Edwards Campus. I am originally from India, where I worked for 10 years in the mechanical engineering industry as a project leader. In order to increase my knowledge and work my way up in the industry, I decided to earn a master’s degree from the University of Kansas Edwards Campus.
I looked at other mechanical engineering programs in India, but wanted a more diverse experience and I found that at KU Edwards. As an international student and experienced professional in the industry, I enjoy interacting with other professionals and individuals with different personal and work backgrounds. The classes at KU Edwards included many working students who often recounted their experiences during class discussions. This created a rich learning environment that I thrived in. The professors taught timely, relevant coursework that I can apply directly to my current and future career endeavors.
I also appreciated how classes always took place in the evenings. The KU Edwards Campus and Student Services were quick to provide services that made earning my degree easier. This made keeping up with my work responsibilities and my seven-year-old son more manageable.
After graduation, I was offered project manager positions at Ford Motor Company and other notable companies. I know the education and skills I gained from KU Edwards Campus played an important role in these job offers. I want to work hard and do good things. I am confident my KU degree from the Edwards Campus will help me do just that.
